Today was our first day of classes as well as my first day of not getting lost. The classes started at 9 am and we had grammar for about 2 hours, then conversation for about an hour, and then about half an hour of history. The classes went well and the professors were both very friendly. The school provided us with lunch, and surpassingly it wasn't that bad. Much better than lunch at public schools in the United States. We had some free time after that and I did some shopping at a grocery store and got some snacks and water. Later in the afternoon we went to the Ricardo Palma museum in Miraflores. Ricardo Palma was a famous author in the late 18 hundreds and early 19 hundreds. At the end of the day we went on a three hour tour of the city of Lima. We saw many old churches, the president's house, and other cool sites in the city. This was my favorite part of the day because it was our first time exploring Lima outside of Miraflores. Attached are photos of the bus tour!
Those are the two things I have the most trouble remembering during my trip to Peru in May and June of 2016 with Northeastern University. Enjoy :)

5/16
Having now been in Lima, specifically Miraflores (the district of Lima where we are staying) for three days, I can finally find my way around. What I've found most difficult are directions (and remembering not to throw toilet paper in the toilet). Not having access to the internet away from home is much harder than I thought it would be, especially in an unfamiliar location. I never before realized how dependent I am on google maps and other directional apps and how little attention I pay to landmarks or street signs. But now, thanks to photos of maps, and the memorization of landmarks I feel confident in finding my way around.
